Cardiac Surgery Patient Companion is a free, educational companion for people having cardiac surgery and their families. It works fully offline and collects no data.
This app is for general education only and does not replace advice from your own surgeon or care team. If something feels wrong, call your care team or your local emergency number.
You can also read the guide in your web browser — the same guides, on any computer, tablet or phone. The surgery date, My path, bookmarks, checklist ticks and care-team number are in the app only.

Do I need an account?
No. There is no sign-up and no login. Just open the app and read.
Does the app collect my information?
No. Nothing leaves your device. Your language choice, checklist ticks, bookmarked operations, and the optional surgery date and care-team number are stored only on your phone. See the Privacy Policy for details.
How do I switch between English and French?
Tap the EN · FR button in the top-right corner of any screen.
What does setting my surgery date do?
It's optional and stays on your phone. Before surgery it shows a countdown on the Prepare tab; afterwards it shows your current recovery week and positions you on each operation's recovery timeline. You can clear it anytime.
My checklist ticks disappeared.
Checklist progress is stored on your device. Deleting and reinstalling the app, or tapping "Reset list," clears it. Occasionally an app update that changes the checklist content will also reset ticks so they can't mislabel items.
Which operations are covered?
Coronary bypass (CABG), valve repair and replacement, minimally invasive bypass and valve surgery, left atrial appendage clipping, aortic aneurysm and dissection surgery, the Maze procedure, septal myectomy, septal-defect closure (ASD/PFO), heart transplant, LVAD, and pericardiectomy. Catheter procedures such as TAVI/TAVR are not covered — this app is about surgery.
I'm having more than one operation at once.
Tap the bookmark on each one — up to three. They all appear at the top of the home screen, and "My path" follows the longest recovery among them.
What is the care-team number for?
The app ships no phone numbers of its own. On the Prepare tab you can type in the number your own team gave you; the "Contact your care team" button then calls it from your phone. It is stored only on your device.
